Piece of thin brown toilet paper from the S.S. Ettrick, with pencil writing and holes.

Piece of toilet paper from the S.S. Ettrick, given to Sigmund Muenz by Count Lingen.
Also confined with Muenz was Count Lingen, the grandson of Kaiser Wilhelm II, who had been studying at Cambridge University when he was interned. During the journey, Lingen volunteered to organize work parties to clean the lavatories every morning, and rationed the toilet paper amongst the passengers.
